a5c7b9f00b A small town in Kansas is literally left in the dark after seeing a mushroom cloud over near-by Denver, Colorado. The townspeople struggle to find answers about the blast and solutions on how to survive. Jericho is a drama about what happens in the aftermath of a nuclear explosion in the once peaceful town of Jericho. Following the battle with New Bern, the citizens of Jericho begin reconstruction efforts to restore the town's power and communication with the outside world. As the country's new leaders, the Cheyenne government, attempt to establish their stronghold in the region, Jericho's citizens become suspicious of their new leaders and question why their community is so important to this newly formed government. If you can just suspend disbelief enough to accept the idea that after nuclear war people in Kansas will still be using makeup, smiling at each other, and having melodramatic love affairs amid the end of the world you'll love this piece of trite garbage.

In fact, if you just love soap operas and telenovelas, but you need more exteriors and a little more violence, Jericho is the ticket.

Every episode features segues with ting-a-ling music, close ups of well coiffed and immaculate young women smiling at cute children, families whose main concern is continuing to have dinner at the table together amongst mass murder and death, scenes from the local fern bar where a segment of the population has decided to shelter because, despite nuclear war, the electricity is still on, there's plenty of food and drink, and after a week you still manage to look like you just stepped out of the shower, dressed in fresh, clean clothes and went out to dinner.

It's like the Hallmark Channel produced Steven King's "The Stand." When my husband and I got hooked on this show, we had no idea it was such a short series! Why did it have to end there?
